Las Vegas Dining tips

Order wine by the bottle. If two or more people are drinking wine and can settle on the type of wine that you like, you can save some money by ordering a bottle.

Before entering a restaurant make sure you know how much it will cost. Check the menu if it is shown or ask the hostess if you could see one before entering. Avoid any surprises

Ordering your steak

At any of the restaurants listed on this page, when you order your steak, your waiter will ask if you want if rare, medium or well done. There is no right or wrong choice to this question. However it helps to know what to expect in your plate based on the choice you make.

Below are the options you can choose and what to expect.

Rare - A rare steak will have it's outside cooked but the inside red and still partially raw. Prime rib is a good steak to order rare.

Medium Rare - With a medium rare steak, there is more browning on the outside and the inside is slightly cooked, but still red and bloody. This leaves the steak juicy and flavorful. Rib eye steak or prime rib are best ordered medium rare.

Medium is a safe bet if you are not sure what you are doing. With a medium steak, there is more browning on the outside and the inside is cooked half way through the steak. The steak is still juicy and not dry or burnt. Order your t-bone, rib eye, or new york strip at this temperature.

Well Done - With a well done steak, the outside of the steak is charred and the inside is completely cooked through with no pink inside. Do not automatically order your steak well-done like most people do without know what to expect. A well done steak will not be juicy and may be very dry and burnt. If you must order your steak well-done, order a new york strip or rib eye This are thicker cuts of meat.

Tipping in Las Vegas

This web site is all about saving you money on your trip to Las Vegas. However it's worth mentioning that in Las Vegas, restaurant and bar staff make most of their salary from tips. Except when service is awful, tipping is mandatory.

It is considered rude to tip less than 15%. Las Vegas restaurants will automatically add the tip to your bill if your group is six people or more.
