The Las Vegas airport is called the McCarran International Airport (LAS) and is located only 1 mile (1.6km) from the Vegas Strip and 3.5 miles (5.6km) from Downtown Las Vegas.

 

Approximately 40 airlines operate at McCarran International Airport, and the airport offers non-stop services to various U.S cities and international destinations.

 

In 2008, McCarran International Airport ranked 15th in the world for passenger traffic, with 44,074,707 passengers passing through the terminals. The airport ranked 6th in the world for aircraft movements with 578,949 takeoffs and landings.

McCarran International Airport Terminals

 

Flights to Las VegasThere are two terminals at McCarran International Airport. Terminal 1 has four concourses: A, B, C, & D. Terminal 2 has one concourse and eight gates.

 

Terminal 1
Terminal 1 features ticket counters, baggage claim, and connects to the multi-level parking garage. This terminal contains four concourses or gate areas.

 

Concourse A contains gates A3 - A24. Servicing - US Airways

 

Concourse B contains gates B1 - B25. Servicing - US Airways, Great Lakes, Southwest Airlines, Spirit, Virgin America and WestJet

 

Concourse C contains gates C1 - C25, Servicing Southwest Airlines

 

Concourse D contains gates D1 - D43. Servicing Air Tran, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Midwest, Sun Country, United and United Express.

 

The Esplanade area is located in Terminal 1 and contains a host of guest services and airport amenities.

 

Terminal 2
Terminal 2 serves 24 domestic and international airlines and contains gates T2-1 - T2-8. Among the airlines are: Aero Mexico, Air Canada, British Airways, Condor, Hawaiian Airlines, Korean Air, Omni Air International, Phillippine Airlines, Sunwing, Thomas Cook, Virgin Atlantic, VivaAerobus, and Volaris.

 

Since international flights operate on three gates in Terminal 2, the Federal Inspection Services / US Customs are located in this terminal. To accommodate passengers, Terminal 2 also contains several fast food and dine-in restaurants, retail outlets, and additional services and amenities.

How to pass time at McCarran International Airport Las Vegas

 

No one heads to the airport expecting to spend an hour or two waiting for a delayed flight to depart. However we all know how often that happens these days. More often there are a few hours to fill between flights or sometimes you're stuck because of weather or flight delays.

 

Knowing what to do to kill time at an airport is important. The good news is McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas is one of the many airports in the US with lots of things to do.

 

Besides making a break for the Vegas strip which is less than a mile away, here are ways to fill the time at McCarran International Airport concourse and gate.

 

Gamble your time away. Spend time on one of the more than 1,000 slot machines that dot the airport terminals.

 

If you are travelling with children, take them to the kids play area near Concourse D. There is also a pet relief area at that location.

 

Boot up and surf the internet. Free Wi-Fi is accessible at McCarran Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with recharge zones are located throughout the airport.

 

Make your wait time a workout time and purchase a daily pass for $10 to the Fitness Beast Center on Level 2 of Terminal 1.

 

Visit the Cannon Aviation Museum. Open 24 hours a day, admission is also free. Located on the walkway above the baggage claim area.

 

Shop at more than 50 retail stores or eat at more than 30 restaurants and lounges

 

Get a massage at the Express Spa on Concourse D

 

Book an escape to the peace and quite of the Continental President's Club lounge starting at $20. This lounge is open to all passengers regardless of airline or ticket class. Located at Concourse D, between Gates 33 and 35.

 

US Military service men, women and families have a USO Center at McCarran Airport.

Driving Directions to McCarran Rent-A-Car Center

 

McCarran Rent-A-Car Center offers a complimentary shuttle bus from McCarran Airport to the center. The blue and white shuttle bus departs approximately every 5 minutes for the 3 mile strip.

From the North: Take I-15 south to exit #34/I-215 east. Follow the signs to Las Vegas Blvd. At Las Vegas Blvd., proceed across the intersection onto George Crocket Rd. Drive a half mile to Gilespie St.

Taking a Bus to McCarran International Airport

 

There are 3 bus routes to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. The Westcliff Airport Express (WAX), Route 108 and Route 109

 

All 3 buses stop at the airport's Ground Zero Level, located on the Zero Level at the south end of the bus plaza. Zero level is one level below baggage claim and passenger pick up.

Where do I buy my bus pass at McCarran Airport?
Two-hour and 24-hour passes are sold from the ticket vending machine (TVM) at the transit stop located on the Zero Level at the south end of the bus plaza.
