We receive a lot of questions from tourists regarding RTC reduced bus fares in Las Vegas. Below are the things you need to know, and the steps required to obtain a Reduced Fare ID card.
The RTC Las Vegas offers reduced fares for youth 6-17 years / students (K-12), senior citizens (60 and over), veterans, person with disabilities, Medicare eligible persons, and Mobility Trained customers.
To ride, you must present your reduced fare transit I.D. photo card, in addition to a current school (K-12) student identification card, Veterans reduced fare I.D. card or Medicare card when paying a reduced fare and purchasing or using a reduced fare pass.
RTC upgraded all ticket vending machines and vehicle fare box units. In order to purchase reduced fare from this equipment and the new rideRTC transit app, you must obtain a new Reduced Fare, Mobility Trained or Veterans identification card (ID) from the RTC in person. (Your old RTC Reduced Fare ID cards will no longer be valid)
A new ID card can be obtained by visiting at one of the locations below:
Bonneville Transit Center, at 101 E. Bonneville Ave., seven days a week from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
RTC's administrative office building at 600 S. Grand Central Parkway, Suite #350, Monday through Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Things you should know about RTC Reduced Fare ID cards
Reduced Fare ID cards can only be obtained at the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC)
To prove eligibility for Reduced fare, the following forms of identification will be required at the Bonneville Transit Center.
Medicare Card Holders: Medicare card and a valid driver's license or non-driver photo ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles;
Seniors (60+): A valid driver's license or non-driver photo ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles;
Youths (6-17 years): Birth certificate, valid driver's license or non-driver photo ID card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Youth / students (K-12) may present a current Student ID card at the time of boarding;
Disabled: Medicare card or a signed letter (original document only) from a physician less than three months old stating the individual is disabled and the time period of the disability accompanied by a valid driver's license or non-driver photo ID card issued the by the Department of Motor Vehicles; a valid reduced-fare eligibility card from another transit system.
