Read the fine print (and you may have to search for the hidden fees)

Beware, resorts fee are charged per day.
Don't be afraid to challenge hotels about these extra costs, because they sometimes waive them.
Avoid booking or paying for your Las Vegas hotel room with a bank debit card. When you book your Las Vegas hotel room, generally the hotel puts a "hold" on a certain amount of the money in your bank account that's tied to the debit card. Those funds are sometimes not released weeks after you have checked out of the hotel, thereby tieing up your funds for that period of time. Also, using a debit card makes it almost impossible to dispute the charges with your bank. Always use a credit card for your hotel reservations and payment.
