The Mirage Volcano

 

One of Las Vegas' most renowned icons, the Volcano at the Mirage is a sight to see and an experience that should be on the top of your list of things to do in Las Vegas.

Premiered in December 2008 after undergoing a dramatic enhancement, the Mirage volcano wows audiences with an audio / visual spectacle that features never-before-seen fire effects and a musical composition created by legendary Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and international tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain.

The Mirage volcano features more than 150 FireShooters™, that shoot fireballs choreographed to the music. The volcano show lasts approximately 10 minutes and ends with a giant fire eruption 60 feet into the air.

Tips on viewing the Volcano at The Mirage

 

The Mirage Volcano erupts nightly every hour on the hour from dusk until 11pm. The first show is at 7pm. The volcano can be viewed from the sidewalk on the Vegas strip in front of the Mirage Hotel Casino or from inside the hotel premises.

 

To get a good viewing spot, plan to arrive 15 minutes before the next volcanic show. This is important especially if you have young children with you.

 

We have also found that the best viewing spot is right in front of the Mirage entrance behind the valet kiosk. This spot will place you about 100 feet from the volcano and you will definitely feel the heat from the exploding volcano. This area fills up fast so remember to get there 20 minutes early.
