When it opened, April 30, 1996 Stratosphere Hotel became the tallest structure west of Mississippi River at the time.	Nevada is the largest gold-producing state in the nation. It is second in the world behind South Africa.
The main tank at Mandalay Bays Shark reef holds more than 1 million gallons.	The working name for Mandalay Bay was Project Paradise until it opened on March 2, 1999
